What is the American Red Cross Breakfast of Champions?
The Breakfast of Champions is a celebration of those who have displayed courage and compassion in their actions. It is a celebration of the mission of the American Red Cross. The Breakfast of Champions celebrates the notion that we can all be part of something bigger than ourselves.
Many of you have seen the American Red Cross in action. In the greater Denver area alone, the Red Cross responds to an emergency every 39 hours – the majority being house fires.
Nationally...
- Every 60 seconds, the life-saving mission of the Red Cross benefits 250 people.
- 200 times a day, American Red Cross volunteers help a family who lost everything in a house fire or other disaster.
- 475 times a day, the Red Cross connects men and women who serve in the Armed Forces with their families.
The Breakfast of Champions celebrates the people who provide this support – the everyday heroes who help people in trouble. They know that doing right by others is more rewarding than a big paycheck, and they do it without expectation of accolades or even a “thank you.”
These heroes are the beacon of hope that many see in their most desperate hours. That’s what this event is all about -- honoring those who put aside their own needs to come to the aid of others.
